Register for the race at the TT Office!

All the administrative preparations for the TT took place at the TT Office. From distributing posters to registering participants, everything was coordinated by the staff at this bureau. In 1927, the TT became an international event, allowing foreign riders to register for the race as well. All the administrative preparations for the TT took place at the TT Office. From distributing posters to registering participants, everything was coordinated by the staff at this bureau. During the war years from 1940 to 1945, no TT races were held, but in 1946 the event resumed with a national race. By 1947, international riders could once again register at the TT Office.

One iconic figure who worked at the TT Office was the somewhat gruff Jan Weggemans. He was known to keep participants waiting for minutes on end simply because he was preoccupied with other matters. The TT archive contains numerous photos and film footage of the TT Office, including a scene of administrator Klaas de Jong addressing the former Italian motorcyclist Agostini in a charmingly awkward Drents-English dialect. This moment beautifully captures the unique atmosphere of the TT Office!

Over the years, the TT Office has been housed in several different locations. From 1930, it was based at Huize Tetrode on the Bink in Assen, and from 1952 at Hotel De Mondriaan on Torenlaan. In 1975, the office moved to the Kunstijsbaan Drenthe, which also accommodated the Drenthe Sports Council. When the permanent TT Circuit Assen opened, the number of events increased significantly, putting more pressure on the TT Office and leading to its growth. Consequently, in 1997, the TT Office relocated to the TT Circuit itself.
