Welcome to the mill in Rolde, site of the first TT race
In 1925, the first motorcycle race on public roads was held on the Brink in Rolde. This race was part of a broader movement to enable motorsport on Dutch public roads, following the introduction of the new Motor and Bicycle Act in 1924. The inaugural race passed through Rolde, Borger, Schoonloo, and Grolloo.
The riders completed ten laps of 28 kilometres each. This street circuit comprised many challenging unpaved roads and bends, and after rain, the course became very muddy, increasing the difficulty and making the race even more spectacular for spectators. Arie Wuring, Hajo Bieze, and Piet van Wijngaarden won ‘the first race’. The great interest in this event demonstrated the enormous demand for motorcycle racing in the Netherlands.
