Infinite Chain
This sculpture can be seen as a monument, a place to pause and reflect on what has transpired during the TT in Assen. On both sides of the monument, we find figurative engines that have powered an infinite chain for 90 years.

On one side, the engine is symbolised by an octopus representing the TT’s board. For many years, the board has tirelessly organised the event. Year after year, the public is treated to a spectacular occasion, led by the beloved hero Valentino Rossi.

On the other side of the monument, we see the consequences of progressive technology. The engine—in the form of a speedometer—pushes the participating motorcycles to ever higher speeds through the chain. The consequences are, unfortunately, also well known. This side is therefore depicted in memory of the following riders:
† 1948 – Gosta Lönnfors (Finland, 350 cc)
† 1962 – Hans Schuld (Netherlands, 50 cc, final practice day)
† 2013 – Sandor Pohl (Germany, Sidecar passenger of Stefan Kiser)
