At the end of the nineteenth century, this was the site of the De Drie Gemeenten dairy factory, where farmers from Ooststellingwerf, Weststellingwerf and Diever delivered their milk. The Bolding mill also formed part of this agricultural landscape, which still tells its story through pastures and sandy lanes. Elsloo was born as a linear farming village along two roads. Today free range hens roam the village, a striking sign of the remarkably short supply chain: eggs are sold directly to farm shops, local hospitality venues and the roadside egg vending machine, creating a direct link between producer and consumer.
