Works primarily with marble, serpentine and granite.
I am interested in the free form and the form area between figurative and abstraction. I'm looking for lines that are in the stone (Taille direct). This makes an image sometimes abstract, sometimes figurative. Making an sculpture in this way is an adventure that fascinates me endlessly. A model can be a human being but also other organic natural principles. The recognizable part is abstracted in the figurative work. This creates sculptures that get a different value and create a new impression. Round organic forms are my starting points even though I sometimes try something different, they always come back before I find an sculpture perfect.
Der Barca a Vela / the sailboats, are a combination of stone and glass. The transparency and color of the glass make a perfect combination with the hardness of stone.
I regularly work in Pietrasanta, Tuscany, Italy. The knowledge of the artisans, the abundance of different types of marble and the tradition of marble sculpture in the daily life of the people in Pietrasanta, is a source of inspiration.
