Cottage Merel is a 6-person holiday home located on the edge of the historic esdorp (traditional village) Gees. Gees is centrally situated between Coevorden, Hoogeveen, and Emmen, making it a perfect base for exploring the many attractions that the province of Drenthe has to offer.
Merel is a private holiday home and is furnished as such: fully equipped, comfortable, and cozy. The house has a wood-burning stove, a selection of board games, and an HDTV with Netflix for relaxed evenings indoors. Cottage Merel offers stunning views over the meadows and expansive farmland, with a distant forest edge marking the beginning of the state-owned woodland — which includes the heathland area “Hooge Stoep” and the nature reserve “Geeserstroom.” These are all beautiful areas for walking or cycling. There is plenty to see, do, and explore in and around Gees. Inside the house, you’ll find a folder with various brochures and tips.
No need to bring towels, bed linen, or kitchen linens — everything is provided fresh and clean for your stay.
Layout of the house:
Downstairs, you’ll find a spacious hallway, a large bathroom with a walk-in shower and a vanity with ample storage space. There is a separate toilet and a bedroom with two new single box-spring beds. The living room with wood-burning stove and the open kitchen have direct access to the garden. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, a fridge with freezer compartment, a Philips L’Or coffee machine, and a five-burner gas stove.
Upstairs, there are two more bedrooms, each with two single beds and a wardrobe or hanging space for clothes. There is also a toilet, a washbasin, and a washer and dryer.
